OVNI 430 from 2023
On display in Port Leucate
This OVNI 430 is in very good condition, as she returned to the Alubat shipyard last winter to have synthetic teak installed throughout the deck. She has been very well maintained by her owners, who put her through her paces during their voyages in Norway for two years and then in the Mediterranean.
She is a two-double-cabin version with a classic saloon that converts into a sleeping area and a technical compartment with a berth.
This OVNI 430 is equipped with an OceanVolt AXC24 electric engine paired with a Fisher Panda AGT generator (11 kW - 600h) and LiFePO4 batteries (4 x 24 V, 230 Ah).
The OVNI 430 is perfectly equipped for long voyages and features a rigid aluminum canopy to ensure well-protected watches.
The layout features a spacious forward cabin, a comfortable portside aft cabin, a welcoming saloon with plenty of storage, a functional galley with all-electric cooking appliances, a chart table facing the direction of travel, and a head with a separate shower.
The starboard aft storage compartment, also accessible from the cockpit, houses a berth and all the electrical equipment.
For any questions regarding the electric propulsion system, her sister ship, the OVNI 430 “Nikola”—equipped with the same system—has published extensive information on her blog: https://www.sailing-nikola.com/hybrid-electric
A word from the owners
We are Canadians and have been sailing for over 40 years, renting various boats.
We decided to buy a boat so we could set sail for 5–6 months a year.
We were looking for a long-distance cruising boat based on three criteria:
- safety at sea, reliability, and sturdiness
- a maintenance-free hull
- resale value
We have not been disappointed with our OVNI 430—quite the opposite.
Having sailed in the North Seas (Norway, Scotland, Ireland, etc.) and then in the Mediterranean, we appreciated:
- her stability at sea
- her performance upwind and downwind in strong winds
- the visibility and natural light provided by the panoramic deckhouse and the protection of the doghouse
- the living space in the saloon, the separate shower, and a spacious engine compartment
- the choice of a safe hybrid propulsion system, which provided us with good range, allowed us to motor-sail quietly and without fumes on numerous occasions, made it easy to maneuver in and out of the harbor, and required no maintenance.
- and the absence of propane, thanks to an induction cooktop and a convection oven (no more lugging around propane tanks and better indoor air quality), as well as a Torqueedo electric motor for the dinghy.
We have taken great care of this boat, which has been stored on dry dock every winter for the past 3 years.
We will remain available to answer any questions as many times as necessary, as this boat holds a special place in our hearts.
