Designed for blue water sailing, the OVNI 490 combines self-sufficiency, comfort and safety. With its 1,000-litre diesel tank and 700-litre fresh-water tank, the OVNI 490 is built to sail far and for a long time.

Its semi-thick aluminium construction, flat bottom (12 mm hull thickness) and twin rudders ensure safe and balanced seakeeping. A vessel designed for serene sailing, even as the miles mount up.

Like all OVNIs, the 490 is built from 5083 aluminium, a material renowned for its mechanical properties, impact resistance and durability in a marine environment. The aluminium we use is 70 per cent recycled and it is infinitely recyclable.
Unrivalled robustness
Our signature feature is the semi-thick aluminium construction. The hull, deck, coachroof, cockpit and superstructures, right down to the through-hull fittings , are all made of aluminium, forming a robust and durable yacht.

The design of the OVNI 490 also benefits from our experience as builders of blue water yachts. Every component is designed to facilitate access to equipment, its maintenance and upgrades over the years.

Insulation designed for all latitudes
The double insulation of sprayed cork and foam, some 50mm thick, ensures excellent thermal and acoustic protection. It minimises temperature exchange with the outside and helps reduce condensation, ensuring a comfortable interior whether in the tropics or at high latitudes.
Impressive space and access
On board, movement towards the bow is natural and unobstructed.
The large galley, seamlessly integrated into the living area, features ample storage space to keep everything you need within easy reach.
The spacious owner’s cabin also offers plenty of storage space and a truly comfortable living environment on board.
The sail locker is a spacious storage area accessible from the deck and from inside via a watertight door.
Aft, a double cabin provides comfortable accommodation for guests. It can be supplemented by a third cabin if required.

An unexpected space beneath the cockpit
Thanks to its twin-engine layout, the central area beneath the cockpit is completely free of any technical equipment. This allows for the use of a vast storage space accessible via a hatch at the after end of the cockpit. The two large watertight side lockers are also useful for storing a stern anchor and any other equipment.
A user-friendly wheelhouse
The wheelhouse has been carefully designed by the architects and the design team to comfortably accommodate two to three people. The various openings in the glazing, including at the rear, and the skylight ensure excellent ventilation of this space and direct access to the cockpit.
