Since the 1990s, the Cigale name has held a special place in ALUBAT’s history. Born from a simple ambition—to harness the qualities of aluminium to create sailboats that are lightweight, fast and capable of covering long distances—the Cigale quickly established itself as a benchmark in the world of fast offshore cruising.
With its 100% aluminium ULDB (Ultra-Light Displacement Boat) construction, the Cigale has always stood apart by combining the comfort and safety of a long-distance cruising sailboat with the sheer pleasure of speed.
Over the generations, the range has evolved alongside sailors’ expectations and advances in naval architecture. Designed by Marc Lombard, the Cigale 16 already embodied this pursuit of balance between stability, power, speed and comfort, with a design conceived to enable a small crew to fully harness the boat’s potential.
Today, ALUBAT is opening a new chapter in this story with the Cigale 15 QR, designed by Finot-Conq, the naval architecture firm behind the first Cigale models. The first boat is currently under construction at the shipyard in Les Sables-d’Olonne, with launching scheduled for spring 2027.
With the Cigale 15 QR, ALUBAT is evolving the Cigale concept while preserving its DNA: a fast, seaworthy sailboat designed for long-distance cruising.
Designed by Finot-Conq, its thoroughly modern hull seeks the perfect balance between performance and comfort over long distances. A true ocean marathoner, the Cigale 15 QR combines the qualities of a performance sailboat with those of a true bluewater cruiser: pleasure and sensations under sail, comfort and safety on long passages, and ease of handling, even with a small crew.
Performance also extends to the rig, with a carbon mast offered as standard and 140 m² of upwind sail area in the standard configuration. But performance only matters if it remains easy to harness. The deck layout has therefore been designed with simplicity and efficiency in mind, featuring a cockpit specifically designed to facilitate manoeuvres while protecting the crew. The central mainsheet winch further enhances this focus on ergonomics.

Building in aluminium to go further without compromising performance: this has been the guiding principle of the range for more than thirty years, and the starting point for the 15 QR.
Wide and powerful, with plenty of volume forward, the hull is the result of an extensive campaign of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. The boat remains lightweight for its size: 12,500 kg light displacement for a 14.50 m hull.
