This is why the shipyard included in its specifications a two-person wheelhouse with an extended canopy over the cockpit.
The panoramic coachroof and raised saloon also allow for watchkeeping from inside.
Sailing manoeuvres are centralised in the cockpit.
Comfort is ensured by spacious living and storage areas, as well as double insulation comprising sprayed cork and foam.
Technical specifications of the Ovni 490
With its centreboard, the OVNI 490 offers exceptional freedom of sailing. Its retractable centreboard allows access to shallow anchorages, reduces its draught and opens up stopovers that are inaccessible to many fixed-keel yachts.
Its modern hull, designed by Mortain & Mavrikios and CBA, prioritises a balance between performance, comfort and safety. Its deck layout and ergonomics are designed to facilitate sailing manoeuvres and ensure efficient, stress-free sailing.
Both seakindly and welcoming, the OVNI 490 offers generous and functional spaces, ample headroom and a layout designed for living on board over long periods.

Why choose the OVNI 490?
Your adventure Explore every horizon
Every sailing programme is unique. Interior layout, equipment, range, propulsion or technical solutions: the OVNI 490 is built to order to meet your ambitions and support your cruising plans, from the European coasts to the most distant latitudes.
Blue water cruising without compromise
Designed for blue water sailing, the OVNI 490 combines self-sufficiency, comfort and safety. With its 1,000-litre diesel tank and 700-litre fresh-water tank, the OVNI 490 is built to sail far and for a long time.
Reassuring stability
Its semi-thick aluminium construction, flat bottom (12 mm hull thickness) and twin rudders ensure safe and balanced seakeeping. A vessel designed for serene sailing, even as the miles mount up.
Comfort for the open sea
With its wheelhouse for two to three people and its light-filled living area, the OVNI 490 offers comfort and shelter whatever the weather conditions. Thanks to its twin engines, docking is a pleasure. Whether under way or at anchor, every space is designed to make life on board pleasant and intuitive.
Freedom to explore
Thanks to its centreboard, the OVNI 490 can access shallow anchorages, is free from draught constraints and can take the ground in complete safety. A design that opens up new horizons, even in the most unspoilt locations.

A build
designed to last
Like all OVNIs, the 490 is built from 5083 aluminium, a material renowned for its mechanical properties, impact resistance and durability in a marine environment. The aluminium we use is 70 per cent recycled and it is infinitely recyclable.
Unrivalled robustness
Our signature feature is the semi-thick aluminium construction. The hull, deck, coachroof, cockpit and superstructures, right down to the through-hull fittings , are all made of aluminium, forming a robust and durable yacht.
A tried-and-tested design
The design of the OVNI 490 also benefits from our experience as builders of blue water yachts. Every component is designed to facilitate access to equipment, its maintenance and upgrades over the years.
Lasting value
This robust construction, combined with the expertise of our metalworkers and the high standards applied at every stage of manufacture, makes the OVNI 490 a yacht designed to cross oceans… and span decades.
Enjoying the view
from inside
On board the OVNI 490, comfort isn’t just about space. It is evident in every detail.
A unique panoramic view
Whether you’re in the wheelhouse or the saloon, you’ll be immediately captivated by the remarkable panoramic view. Whether standing in the galley or seated at the saloon table, you’ll enjoy plenty of natural light and a direct view of the outside.
This openness to the sea allows for active watchkeeping from inside, a real advantage when weather conditions mean you need to stay sheltered whilst keeping an eye on your surroundings.
Insulation designed for all latitudes
The double insulation of sprayed cork and foam, some 50mm thick, ensures excellent thermal and acoustic protection. It minimises temperature exchange with the outside and helps reduce condensation, ensuring a comfortable interior whether in the tropics or at high latitudes.
Impressive space and access
On board, movement towards the bow is natural and unobstructed.
The large galley, seamlessly integrated into the living area, features ample storage space to keep everything you need within easy reach.
The spacious owner’s cabin also offers plenty of storage space and a truly comfortable living environment on board.
The sail locker is a spacious storage area accessible from the deck and from inside via a watertight door.
Aft, a double cabin provides comfortable accommodation for guests. It can be supplemented by a third cabin if required.
Clean lines, carefully selected materials and exceptional headroom.
Whether you’re sailing as a couple or with more crew… All your passions, without compromise
Sailing, exploring, skiing, cycling, paddleboarding, diving… Why choose?
The OVNI 490 is designed to cater for all the passions that make up blue water sailing. Its generous storage spaces allow you to stow skis, bikes, paddleboards and all the equipment needed for your activities, without encroaching on the living areas.
On board, all your gear naturally finds its place, ensuring the boat remains pleasant and easy to live on, whether at anchor or under way.
A yacht for sailing far afield, but above all for living out all your passions to the full.
Thanks to its twin-engine layout, the central area beneath the cockpit is completely free of any technical equipment. This allows for the use of a vast storage space accessible via a hatch at the after end of the cockpit. The two large watertight side lockers are also useful for storing a stern anchor and any other equipment.
The wheelhouse has been carefully designed by the architects and the design team to comfortably accommodate two to three people. The various openings in the glazing, including at the rear, and the skylight ensure excellent ventilation of this space and direct access to the cockpit.
